Weight In Word’s

Hello everybody,

Today I was thinking about the saying, “Sticks and Stones may Break my Bones, but Words will Never Hurt Me.” This saying might be great and all, the thing is…….

It isn’t true!

Words matter, your words can build or they can destroy in a matter of moments. Words written on paper made it possible for America to become a nation. They start revolutions; they stir up or appease a crowd.

Words Matter!

I remember saying, “sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me” as a kid. Outwardly it seemed to ring true, but the inner turmoil of the words spoken hurt me. My pride wouldn’t allow me to show it though. I’m positive at some point in your own life you too have experienced this very thing. And you probably could remember clearly what was spoken.

The funny thing with words is it’s easy to remember the cruel words, and easy to forget the encouraging words. It’s also easy to change the meaning of a word, or for words to lose their value. Sometimes silence is the best way of speaking.

Looking at the Power of Words, I hope you see how much what you say and write matters. Before you speak think about what you’re about to say. Is it worth it or is it idle speech? Will it help or will it hurt?

I’m not saying be politically correct. Because then we would all sound like robots. Just realize that your words matter.
