Being optimistic in the midst of realism

Hello everyone,

This post started because my little sister and I were arguing about why she shouldn’t rain on my parade of brilliantly insane ideas. Her argument was she wasn’t being a pessimist, she was being a realist.

I’m not saying being a realist is bad, amid realism we should still have some optimism.

So how can you believe for the best when you know the chance you have is minimum at best?

Well, you go on intending to do your best and not quit.

For example, writing! Personally, I don’t think I’m the best at it, but I love doing it so I continue. Realistically I know my book has a small chance of being accepted by agents considering its multi-pov. There are so many other ya novels out there. Realistically, I know the odds are not in my favor. Regardless of all this, I also know that it could make it. So with that small hope, I will get an agent and my book will make it. Because you never know.

Realism is a good way to live, but live it with a glimmer of optimism. Have a good rest of your day. And if you’re struggling out there, don’t stop. No one ever became great by doing nothing.

  1. In a world full of negativity & bad news , it helps to stay positive but yes, in a realistic way. No one else will fight for our dreams except us , so if we believe in them , we do our best to get them. If some fail , we learn, get stronger , rise up & move to the next dream until we find what we’re looking for.
