The Woe’s of the Big R & F.

Hello everyone,

Today we’re going to analyze rejection. Well, you’re going to read possibly comment and contemplate this post. You might even notice errors and try not to laugh at how many you find. Those errors could be a secret message to…

If I told you it wouldn’t be a secret.

Back to the Woes of Rejection. How many of you like rejection? Rejecting people? Being Rejected? The answer is Nobody! Nobody likes to fail or be rejected. I personally hate rejection or failure. I know hate is a strong word but I feel a very strong dislike towards rejection and failure.

Now that I got that off my chest I can breathe again.

How do we deal with rejection or failure? Simple avoidance. We avoid it and hope it goes away very much like an ostrich with its head in buried in the ground. The only problem with this is eventually we have to come out of hiding. You got to breathe eventually unless you’re dead. But that’s another topic for another day.

How should we really deal with rejection and failure?

A.) curl up in a ball

B.) cry your self to sleep

C.) take it as a challenge to do even better

D.) give up, as well as do A, B

E.) never try

The right answer is C. But you already know that. But that head knowledge doesn’t stop us from fearing the big F AND R does it.

For example, many years ago. Four years to be exact I went to the DMV to get my driver’s license. Due to unfortunate circumstances I failed the bubble sheet test not once but three times. I of course cried when I got home because I never fail a test. NEVER EVER!!! When I was younger, I passed every test given to me. Including the CAHSEE test with very good scores. I later past the fourth time. If that wasn’t bad enough I also failed the driven test the first time. I handled that a little bit better.

What I learned through this trivial matter is it’s okay to fail. Did I apply this knowledge to my life though? No, not really. There have been a few occasions where I refused to be put in charge of something because of my fear of failure. There has also been times where I didn’t share an idea because I thought it would be rejected. The thing is if I keep doing this I will never go anywhere. Stuck in the same circumstances never moving forward. No thanks to that.

Let’s talk about, well you read I’ll write about how to face these fears. We all know how we should respond to failure or reject it. Remember that old rhyme, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me. We should dust it off and ride into the sunset.

Do we do this? If we’re honest no. Well if I’m honest no. You might. Yes rejection and fear are very big monsters that live in the background of every idea or relationship. It will unfortunately always be there. But we can push it aside and grow.

If you fail look at what you can do better next time. If your proposal is rejected by your boss or others figure out what needs to change. If nothing try again with a different pitch. The thing is if you curl up into a ball and quite. That brilliant idea will never be written. That master plan will never come to fruition. Writing this I’m going to take my own advice and send in my manuscript. I was procrastinating because I don’t like rejection or failure. But even if it is rejected I have to get back up, dust my pants off and ride into the sunset to do it again.

Don’t be afraid of recieving a no, look at what that no will open too.

P.S.

There is no secret message, Or is there?

I hope this helped you if you’re struggaling with going forward.

P.P.S.

There really is no secret message.

  2. Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!
